Our grandson!

Yesterday was Zach's 8th birthday which also happened to be his First Communion at church.  Stacey took this picture in front of their house.  She said she couldn't see anything because of the sun and this is what she got:

Zach said this was God surrounding him.  Who am I to question a 8 year old?!!!!   What a special day for all of us!

Two more finishes!

This is a quilt I quilted for Barbara:

And this is my niece's (Teresa) granddaughter's quilt (I guess I could say my great, great niece).  She found the hexagon blocks at a flea market and her sister (Paula) appliqued them to the background and I quilted.  Turned out so pretty.  And whoever made the GFG blocks should be really happy to see them put to good use!

Tomorrow is my grandson's 8th birthday!!  Happy birthday, Zachary!

My Drunkard's Path

Okay, you need to view this quilt from a galloping horse!!  But it is finished.  I hated it all the time I was quilting it -- until I added the fill stitches in the light areas.  I used two different fills for the areas but I like the texture it gave it.  My lines don't all line up, but that's okay.  I like it now.

It is a small lap quilt.  I didn't realize how hard it was to come up with something to quilt on drunkard's path blocks even in the baby bunting setting.

Many thanks to the internet.  I had a hard time deciding what to do but then Jean Shute (I think that was who suggested this) on MQR had suggested this for a houndstooth quilt.  I like how it turned out.
And here is Phyllis' quilt.  Love the serpentine border.

I used Hobbs wool batting in Phyllis' quilt.  I wanted the appliques to "pop".  I like how it turned out also. 
I am so proud of my nieces, Pat, Paula and Phyllis, all do great work!!!  So glad that love of quilting has passed to the next generation!!!  Love those girls!

Chasing Rainbows Quilt & Other Pics

We had a 10" square batik exchange last year in our guild.  Each month we exchanged different colors.  This is what I made with my blocks:

I named it "Chasing Rainbows".  It was so much fun to make!!  And I would have never done it had we not had the batik exchange.
This is what it looked like yesterday in our meadow:

Yep.  That is turkeys!  Lots and lots of turkeys!

What a difference a day makes -- well, not a day - just a night.

We have named him Kat, Kat.  Real original, don't you think????
