Civil War & Bonnie Hunter

How's that for a title??!!!  Here is my version of Bonnie Hunter's Roll, Roll Cotton Boll.  Still lack the pieced border but this is an accomplishment since there were over 600 tiny half squares to make!!  Thank goodness for the AccuQuilt Go cutter!!
I didn't do the string alternate blocks but just made them scrappy using several tan fabrics.  I especially like the name Bonnie gave this quilt since I grew up on a cotton farm in Texas.  Can't wait to get the pieced borders finished.
Here is Barb's civil war quilt.

Barb said all the little pieces were pre-cut.  Love all the fabrics.

Quilt Retreat

Our little quilting group went on a quilt retreat last week --from Tennessee to a beautiful cottage in Clear Lake, WI which is owned by Barb in our group.  Here are some pictures:

I know, I know -- just too pretty to get much quilting done.  But we actually did quilt some!  We also went to the Quilt Expo in Madison and visited two great shops:  JJ's Stitches and Primitive Gatherings.  And spent waaaaaaaay too much money.  <grin>  But, oh, what fun!!
MANY, MANY THANKS TO BARB AND BILL for allowing us to visit their beautiful cottage!!!

Falling Charms and Split Four Patch

I am on a mission this year:  to use up my fabric stash.  I have finished two more:
Falling Charms

If you want to make this quilt, go to http://www.missouriquiltco.com  She has a great tutorial.  It is a fun quilt to make.  Like the piping on the binding, too.
And, I think this is called a split four patch -- but not sure about that.

Trying to decide what to do for binding.  Maybe a mixture of the fabrics.

Two Finishes

Here are two quilts that I have quilted.
Turning Twenty for my niece, Paula:
And a 10 minute block quilt for Barb:

This 10 minute block was so much fun to do and I like how it turned out.

All About Chickens

Yeh!!  We have eggs -- not the LARGE brown eggs we were told we'd have  -- but we did get two eggs.

And these two roosters were suppose to be hens!!  Their names are Curly (because he has a curly tail) and Roo (who use to be sweet but is now mean and may be headed for the "pot"!).

Curly is on the right and Roo is walking away.

Split Four Patch

I love this technique.  I believe this technique is shown in one of Missouri Quilt Company's videos, but it may have come from the Moda Bake Shop.  You make four patches using two background and two of the same fabric to make the four patch.  Then you cut the four patches 1-1/4" in all directions from the seam lines.  Then re-sew.  It was fun to do!!  But I did end up with two quilts because I made 100 blocks but I cut some at 1-1/4" and some at 1-1/2".  Here is the baby quilt using the 1-1/4" cuts:
I did a panto (Bubbles by Lorien Quilting) on this baby quilt.  I NEVER do pantos and it is so obvious from this little quilt why I don't.  I am absolutely no good at following a panto!!!  My hat is off to everyone who does pantos.  I will custom quilt the large quilt and will post pictures when it is quilted.
I am on a mission to use up scraps this year.  I think I have used 45 yards thus far (even though I have added some yardage).  YES!!!!  But, unfortunately, I don't miss any of the 45 yards!
