Cut two 3" squares
Cut four 2-1/2" squares
Fabric 2 (light gray): Cut two 3" squares
Cut one 4-1/2" square
Cut one 5-1/4" square (cut this twice diagonally to get 4 triangles)
Fabric 3 (light green): cut two 5-1/4" squares (cut these twice diagonally to get 8 triangles)
Fabric 4 (dark green): Cut one 5-1/4" square (cut this twice diagonally to get 4 triangles)

Make bias squares using the red 3" squares and light gray 3" squares. (Lay a red and gray square, right sides together and mark diagonally. Sew 1/4" on each side of drawn line and cut apart on drawn line. You will have four bias squares. Square each one up to 2-1/2")
Using the connector square method, sew a 2-1/2" gray square to the 2-1/2 x 4-1/2" red rectangle, being sure the triangle faces correctly. Make four of these. Sew the bias square to the gold 2-1/2" square, and sew to the rectangle. You will have four of these:
Make quarter squares using two light green, one dark green and one gray triangle. Make four of these:
Make a square in square using the light gray 4-1/2" square and the four 2-1/2" red triangles.
