Almost up-to-date on BOM

Nothing like waiting until the last day, but I am up-to-date on The Quilt Show's BOM EXCEPT for one appliqued block plus 7 more berries on the 3rd block.  Only 4 more baskets to go!!  Thank goodness.  I am tired of these little baskets.  I'm so glad that you only have to do 4 per month!!!  You can also see the pieced swag border.

Here is one of the applique blocks that goes in the corner of the basket border.

When I began this quilt in January, I envisioned a civil war type quilt.  Well, it is anything but civil warish (is that a word????) .  Too many brights have been added but I still like it, I think.

Billie Lauder - Four Patches

Check out this video.  I have never seen this technique to do 4 patches but thought it was great.

Long time since posting

It's been a long time since I posted.  After doing Paula's applique, I did a lot of "bread and butter" quilting so I could get caught up.  I did do two custom quilts.  Here is Nancy's gecko (is that the correct spelling????) quilt:

Sorry the picture is so blurry.
And here is Barb's fall quilt:

I tried a new border technique (for me) that I have been seeing on MQResource.com.   You may have to enlarge to see it since the border is brown.  I really like the effect it gives.
Now to do Pat's Aunt Millie's Flower Garden so look for me in a month! <grin>

Finished! Memphis Trip, etc.

I finally finished Paula's Aunt Millie's Garden.  Only took me a month!!!  She did an excellent job and it turned out so pretty.

I still have another Aunt Millie's Flower garden to do for another of my nieces, Pat.  But I have a few quilts to get done before hers.  Which is a good thing!  There is a w-h-o-l-e lot of applique to stitch around before doing the filler work.  Very time consuming!
My little "welfare" birds are storing up for their trip south.  I have used two 50# bags of sugar this summer to feed these little critters.  You can't get good pictures because they move so quickly and there is no way you can count them.  This is just a small sampling.

We love watching them!
Yesterday was our group's sew day in Memphis.  Arlene Blackburn graciously opened Delta Patchwork for us and we had a ball.  Her shop is primarily a web shop.  Check it out at http://www.deltapatchwork.com/
Here is what I bought.
Don't have any idea what I'm going to do with them but just HAD to have them!

Great Day!

Yesterday I met my niece (who I haven't seen in 10 years!!!) in Nashville for a wonderful dinner and visit.  Kathy, who lives in Denver,  is a flight attendant and had a layover in Nashville.  It was so good to see her and visit even though the time spent wasn't long enough.  She has promised to fly down and spend some time with me.
Families are treasures!!
Now back to quilting on Paula's (another niece who lives in Nashville) quilt -- a beautiful Aunt Millie's flower garden quilt.
And here's a picture of my little fur ball!  She is such a good kitty.  When she comes in the house, if I lay a towel out on my bed, she will lay on the towel all day long.

Granted, sometimes she doesn't get "all" of her body on the towel.  Her name is Lit'l Bit because she was so tiney when we got her.  But now we call her "fat bit".  She is 5 years old now.  When we got her 5 years ago, I took her to the vet and they wanted to put her to sleep because she was feline lukemia positive.  I said no way!  She has had a very happy 5 years and every day I tell her I saved her from the death chamber and she owes me.  <grin>
Have a great day!

Guild BOM finished -- well almost!

My guild BOM from about 3 or 4 years ago is now going into the finished pile -- although I do lack the binding but that will be sewn on today and hand stitched at my sew group meeting Thursday.
I made one block and then 11 other guild members each made a block so they are not always an exact 12" block.  There is a little fullness in some of the blocks but I like the way it turned out.  I would use the log cabins to set another sampler together.  I really like the way it looks.  I used Hobbs wool so it is pretty puffy.

Fun, fun, fun

I have some rulers that I have never used.  Just didn't take the time to learn how to use them and I'm probably not using them right now but I like how they are turning out.  This is the nautilus feather border ruler by Sheri Wood (bought from The Quuilter's Rule).
This is the Nautilus long tail ruler (small size) (Again from The Quilter's Rule by Sheri Wood).  I just like the shape of it.

The feather done with The Circle Lord:

And curved cross hatching with Ranae Haddidin's ruler:

Let's see how many tools I can use on this sampler quilt!
