Italian Ingenuity!

When putting the hardwood floors down, we moved our miter saw to the front porch so we wouldn't have to walk so far to do the cutting.  The miter saw is so heavy, I could barely lift my end!  But David came up with a way to move it.  Check out these pictures!

Barb's Fan Quilt is Finished!

I have finished Barb's quilt and really like how it has turned out.  We used wool batting which I love.  What do you think???

I used so many rulers:  10" circle, 5-1/2" circle, Ronda's curved crescent moon, Ronda's mini arc, Linda Mae's Rays, Janet Lee's favorite, and both the large and small sunflower from Quilters Rule, and Ranae's arc. 

YIKES!!! MORE UFOs!!!

We have been cleaning the room upstairs so we can have the carpet which we removed laid up there and, low & behold!!  I found a whole container of UFOs not previously listed!!!!
I have started four fall placemats -- don't know when -- but I do like them a lot.  One is pieced and ready to quilt.  Now only 3 more to go.  Easy-peasy, right????

And I have this snowman through the year quilt which is ready to sew all the rows together, decide whether or not it needs a border, and quilt it. 

The two bottom rows are sewn together.  Just need to sew the top two to them.
And I found this one that my mom had started hand piecing. 

I think I will just square it off and quilt it in her memory.

And then two projects:  One for a carnation topper shown above.  And one for a manly throw.

And one more that needs some machine stitching around the appliques and then ready to quilt:

And one that I started quilting years ago -- I hope I have improved since starting this one!! --

I really want to take out what I've quilted and start over.  It is so wrinkled.  I don't think I'll ever be able to get the wrinkles out!! 
So add 6  more to my list!!  All in good time, right????

Back on Matilda

It is so good to be back on Matilda after about 3 weeks off laying the hardwood floors.  I don't have a business anymore -- but occasionally quilt for very, very SPECIAL people.  This quilt is one of for Barb and is so pretty.  I am using wool batting for more definition in it and it is looking great!

Just barely started with the quilting.  Hope you can see the quilting.

The end is in sight!

Our hardwood floors are almost finished.  We still need to put quarter round in the front bedroom and some transition pieces between the tile and hardwood.  Before we can finish, we have to make a run to Camden to get the trim.  But no more hardwood to be laid -- well, almost no more!!  We have 4 boxes left and we had not done the master bedroom closet because it is off the bathroom, but since we have the boxes left, David says we need to do the master closet!!  But not until everything else is finished and all furniture is back in place. But here is the master bedroom and the den pictures.

A nice picture of David's inversion chair, too.  That will be going to the guest bedroom when we get all the extra furniture out of there.

It seems ages since I have been on Matilda (as in Waltzing Matilda) and I am going to load a quilt today.  I need to get my creative juices going again.  Hope I haven't lost "the touch".   We shall see!

Hardwood floor in den

There will be no sewing for me for awhile until we get the hardwood floor laid in our den and bedroom.  It is looking good though! 
I have finished Crazy Bet but my good friend Nancy is sewing the binding on for me.  When I get it back, I'll take pictures.

Making Lemonade!!

I have posted pictures of the first month's Ruffled Roses BOM that I am doing (from thequiltshow.com) and pictures of the little lattice pieces.  After I got ALL 112 of them made, I realized they did not measure 2-1/2" -- they measured just slightly over 2-1/4".  I was NOT going to make another 112 because to do so, I would have to draw my own pattern.  No matter how I tried to print it from The Quilt Show's web site, it always came out too small.  So I removed the two borders which were put on the first month, replaced it with a narrow blue border to make the lattice blocks fit and then added another narrow blue border to the outside of the lattice blocks.  I don't like it as well as I did with my focus fabric, but, hey, I didn't have to make another 112 little blocks!  These are the borders I removed.

Now I'm ready for Month #3.  Hope it goes better than this months!
