FORTUNE STAR (WHEEL OF FORTUNE BLOCK)
Fabric 1 (white background): Cut four squares 3-1/2”
Cut eight rectangles 2” x 3-1/2”

Cut four squares 2”
Let’s do the snowball block in the center first. Using the connector square method, sew a Fabric #3 2” square in each corner. This is your center:
Next, let's make the quarter squares. We are experts by now!! Make four of them like this:Take the 2" x 3-1/2" rectangles and using the connector method, sew a fabric 3 square diagonally on each rectangle. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL HERE BECAUSE THEY SHOULD MAKE A BOWTIE WHEN LAID TOGETHER SO YOU MAKE 4 ONE DIRECTION AND REVERSE ON THE OTHER 4. They should look like this:
Sew four units to make this:
Now just sew it together as shown in the block:

A few quilts
I have finished David's deer quilt -- washed and blocked -- ready to be put on the bed. Here are a few pictures (sorry for the quality, but it is a rainy day and I couldn't get the light right):
I used Hobbs wool as the batting so there is a little trapunto effect.
And I have been working on this Bonnie Hunter quilt:
I'm trying to decide if I need to make another 20 blocks.
And here are some quilts that I have finished for friends/relatives:

Lesson Learned - Quilt Finally Finished
This is the Quilt Show's BOM for, I think, 2009 -- might be 2010. I have had this quilt on and off the machine so many times and I learned that I lose interest if I remove it from the machine. I have to finish the quilt when I put it on to keep the continuity. All I can say is, I'm glad it is off the machine. Now if I can talk Nancy into hand stitching the binding, it will be a great day for me!! I do like sewing the binding on with the longarm. I have always sewn four separate pieces when I bind a quilt, so it works well for me. All I have to do on the domestic is miter the corners.
I saw another of the BOM quilts with a lightening strike quilting around the small stars and decided to do that.
I purposely make the lightening strikes different but I did NOT purposely plan the four corners!!! They are ALL different!! But, hey, no two lightening strikes are alike, are they?????

Sorry my foot was in every one of them. It has just been one of those days. Just one more view of the large stars.
Like I said -- just one of those days. This one is blurred, but maybe you can get the idea. Saturday, August 11, 2012
Barb's Basket Quilt
Barb's basket quilt is finished. What a beautiful quilt. I don't know the name of the pattern but I really like it. That's good because I have another one to quilt.
I used a different background fill for each block. There is a diamond crosshatch in the sashing but it doesn't show on the black.
I am now nearing the end on the 2010 (I think) BOM from The Quilt Shop -- Sue Garmon's feathered star medallion quilt. I saw the streak of lightening quilting on another blog and thought I would give it a try on this quilt.
You can see it on the red-white star. Another view of the quilt.
It has been on and off the longarm several times and I am going to finish it this time!!!
